The ingredients needed to make Butter Chicken with a twist:
  1. Get 500 gms Chicken
  2. Get 2 tbsp butter or ghee and 3tbsp refined oil
  3. Take 2 onions
  4. Take 2 tbsp ginger paste
  5. Prepare 1 tsp garlic paste
  6. Take 5-6 Cashewnuts
  7. Take 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  8. Take 2 tbsp curd
  9. Prepare 2 tbsp tomato puree
  10. Prepare 2 tbsp malai or fresh cream
  11. Prepare 1 the tbsp butter chicken or tandoori masala
  12. Prepare 1 tbsp kasoori methi
  13. Make ready 1/2 tsp ajwain
  14. Make ready 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  15. Get 1/2 tsp garam masala
  16. Make ready Pinch orange red food colour
  17. Take to taste Salt and sugar
  18. Take 1 cup water approx
  19. Prepare Coriander leaves and fresh cream for garnishing

Its his favorite Pakistani food and made in very little time, so I always suggest it to. Adding butter is optional, but it gives it that yummy and creamier taste to mimic classic 'butter chicken'. So, if you really want to make it healthy, you can just skip it. I recently made it and added greek yogurt at the end to make it similar to butter chicken with a healthy cream alternative.

Instructions to make Butter Chicken with a twist:
  1. Marinate chicken with 1tbsp curd,1tbsp tomato puree and little salt for an hour.Boil 1 onion, cool and make a paste of it alongwith cashew nuts, sesame seeds and malai.
  2. Fry the chicken pieces lightly and set aside.Add some butter or ghee to the leftover oil. Sprinkle ajwain and when it splutters fry 1 chopped onion.Set aside.Now add the onion paste along with other masalas, ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, food colour, salt and sugar to taste.Fry and add the chicken pieces.
  3. Pour 1 cup water, cover and cook till chicken is done.Now add the fried onion, toss till masala coats the chicken.
  4. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, little butter and sprinkle fresh cream or malai. Serve with pulao, tandoori roti or butter naan.
