Pad Thai is one of the world's most beloved noodle dishes. Along with Thai Green Curry and Red Curry, this is the dish by which every Thai restaurant is measured. This restaurant-quality Pad Thai recipe is surprisingly easy to make at home and customize with whatever noodles, proteins, veggies, and spice level you prefer. It starts with fresh ingredients including rice noodles, chicken, shrimp, tofu, cilantro, bean sprouts.

The ingredients needed to make Pad Thai:
  1. Make ready Pad thai sauce
  2. Get 9 tbsp packed palm sugar, roughly chopped
  3. Prepare 9 tbsp water
  4. Get 4 tbsp tamarind paste
  5. Take 6 tbsp fish sauce

  7. Take 2 tbsp dried shrimp
  8. Prepare 115 g dried rice noodles, medium, soaked in room temp water for 1 hour then drain and cut into shorter pieces
  9. Make ready 3 gloves garlic, minced
  10. Make ready 1 onion, roughly chopped
  11. Prepare 85 g firm tofu, cut into small bite-size pieces and pan-fried
  12. Make ready Vegetable oil
  13. Make ready Choice of shrimp or chicken breast for protein
  14. Make ready Dried chili flakes
  15. Take 2 cuts bean sprouts
  16. Get 2 eggs, beaten
  17. Get Spring onions, cut into 2-inch
  18. Make ready 1/4 cut toasted peanuts, roughly chopped

You may want to start with less pepper, and work your way up. Pad Thai is stir-fried rice noodle dish ubiquitous with Thai cuisine in the United States, but it wasn't With World War II nearing, the Thai government created the dish to promote a sense of national unity. It will immediately harden the sugar syrup but will eventually dissolve once the its heated up again. Add the rest of the ingredients then continue simmer until the sugar has been dissolved again. Set aside.
  2. Sear your choice of protein over medium heat. If you are using shrimp, take it out of the pan after searing so as not to over cook it.
  3. Add a little more oil and toss in the garlic, onion, dried shrimps, tofu and chili flakes. Saute for a couple of minutes until fragrant.
  4. Increase the heat and toss in noodles and sauce. Keep tossing until sauce has been absorbed. You may add a little water if the noodles is undercooked.
  5. Once noodles are cooked, push everything at one side of the pan. Put a little oil on the empty space and cooked the egg. Break the yoke then once slight cooked, toss in the noodles until all is well combined.
  6. Add the bean sprout, spring onion, half of the peanuts and the seared shrimps (if using). Toss well then turn off the heat.
  7. Serve warm with additional sidings of peanuts, chili flakes, bean sprouts, lime wedges (and some sugar according to taste).

The noodles are topped with crushed peanuts and served with fresh chives, lime wedges. Pad Thai is probably one of the most popular Thai dishes abroad. Pad Thai (or Phad Thai) has been one of my favourite dishes for a while now. Pad Thai is one of these dishes that is not that difficult to veganise.
