This restaurant-quality Pad Thai recipe is surprisingly easy to make at home and customize with whatever noodles, proteins, veggies, and spice level you prefer. It starts with fresh ingredients including rice noodles, chicken, shrimp, tofu, cilantro, bean sprouts.

The ingredients needed to make Pad Thai:
  1. Take 8 oz Rice sticks (dried rice noodles)
  2. Prepare 1 lb Chicken/pork/beef/shrimp (choose one)
  3. Get 1 as needed Oil
  4. Get 4 tbsp Garlic (minced)
  5. Get 1 tbsp Egg
  6. Get 1 cup Carrot
  7. Get 1 small Onion

  9. Make ready 1 cup 3/8 chicken broth
  10. Get 4 1/2 tbsp Fish sauce
  11. Take 6 tbsp Brown sugar
  12. Get 3 tbsp White sugar

  14. Get 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  15. Make ready 3 tbsp Lime juice
  16. Prepare 1 cup 1/8 peanut butter (if desired)
  17. Take Accents
  18. Take 2 tbsp Peanuts
  19. Make ready 1 bunch Green onion (chopped)
  20. Take 1 large Lime (cut in 4-6 slices for garnish)
  21. Get 1 cup Bean sprouts
  22. Make ready 1 tsp Red pepper (crushed, use for garnish)

You may want to start with less pepper, and work your way up. Pad Thai is stir-fried rice noodle dish ubiquitous with Thai cuisine in the United States, but it wasn't With World War II nearing, the Thai government created the dish to promote a sense of national unity. Pad Thai is Thai stir-fried noodles with rice stick noodles, shrimp, chicken, fried tofu, eggs and Pad Thai sauce. Steps to make Pad Thai:
  1. Put noodles in pot with water and set on stove on lowest temp for 1 hour check occasionally to make sure they do NOT get over cooked
  2. While noodles cook, put all ingredients for sauce together and let come to a small boil then let simmer.
  3. Put the remaining ingredients in another pan and let simmer together while watching and stirring so not to let the food burn. Use oil if needed.
  4. When noodles are done, drain BUT DONT PUT BACK IN POT YET! Put all together EXCEPT NOODLES then add noodles to desired dryness. I enjoy less noodles for more soup like.
