Crumble the yeast into the warm milk along with the sugar and stir until smooth. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour along with the egg, egg yolks, salt, rum and butter and knead until smooth and elastic. Dampfnudel is a steamed German sweet dumpling that's almost like a sweet bread, served with a luscious vanilla custard and often fruit compote. It's hearty but wonderfully comforting and delicious.

The ingredients needed to make Sweet Steamed Dumplings:
  1. Take 1 cup Rice Flour
  2. Prepare 1 cup Water
  3. Get pinch Salt
  4. Get 1 tsp Ghee

  6. Make ready 1 cup Coconut (Desiccated)
  7. Get 1 cup Jaggery
  8. Take 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  9. Prepare 1/4 tsp Cinnamon Powder

One of my favorites are sweet dumplings (buchty) on steam (na pare), which I show you how to prepare in this recipe. This is another dish I helped with at my grandma's. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet. If you boil, add some oil to the water and don't overcrowd the pan–make them in batches.

Steps to make Sweet Steamed Dumplings:
  1. Firstly, to make the outer covering of the dumplings, add water in a pan. Add salt and ghee and let the water come to a boil. Turn off the heat. Add the rice flour to this water and mix well. Cover with a lid and set it aside for about 5 minutes.
  2. After 5 minutes, transfer it into a bowl. Add few drops of ghee to it. Also grease your palm and knead it for about 10 minutes into a smooth dough.
  3. Take a pan. Add jaggery to it. When the jaggery starts to melt, add the coconut. Mix and cook on medium-low heat until the jaggery melts fully and you get a thick mixture. Add cardamom powder and cinnamon powder. Mix and cook for 2 minutes. Set aside and allow it to cool.
  4. Pinch a small ball from the dough and flatten it. Give it a cup shape. Add a spoonful of the coconut-jaggery filling. Gather the dough at the center and seal it.
  5. Heat 1 1/2 glass of water in a steamer. Place a stand in the steamer. Grease a steamer plate with ghee. Arrange the dumplings on the steamer plate. Leave space between each dumpling. Cover with a lid and steam for 10 minutes on medium heat or until the dumplings turn glossy. When done, turn the heat off. Wait for 2 minutes. You can use an idli stand or a modak maker.
  6. Sweet Steamed Dumplings is ready to be served.

Place in a single layer on a baking sheet. If you boil, add some oil to the water and don't overcrowd the pan–make them in batches. If you like, you can fry the dumplings in a skillet or wok to brown them before serving. There is no secret that I love not only steamed dumplings, but all kinds of dumplings—such as potstickers, pork and leeks dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, or xiao long bao. Recently, a coworker from Japan was in town and we were discussing about going for a dim sum/dumpling lunch.
